McDonald’s has never been able to permanently remove its famous McRib off menus, despite the fact that the company has made several efforts to achieve this goal. The barbecue pork sandwich will be brought out from retirement for the second time in a row the following month, and McDonald’s will also include a startling new item in its lineup of offerings.
This week, McDonald’s made the announcement that the McRib, which has 520 calories, would be making its triumphant return to participating locations on December 3. An item that has been deemed “gross” by some and “delicious” by others, the controversial dish consists of a boneless pig patty that has been seasoned, dipped in a barbecue sauce that has a tangy flavor, and served on a toasted bun with pickles and slivered onions.
As an added perk for its devoted customers, McDonald’s is now offering for the very first time ever the sale of enormous half-gallon jugs of their McRib barbecue sauce. These limited-edition jugs, which are jokingly referred to as “A Whole Lot of McRib Sauce,” will only be available for buy online at www.wholelottamcribsauce.com for the price of $19.99. If you are interested in purchasing McRib sauce, you should attempt to do it as soon as possible since the sale will begin at ten o’clock Eastern Time on November 25 and will continue for as long as supplies remain.
In 1981, McDonald’s made its initial appearance with the McRib, and during the subsequent decades, the fast food chain has made intermittent appearances with limited-time offerings of the product. The sandwich has been formally canceled at least four times over the course of the years by the fast-food behemoth, although it has never been withdrawn permanently. For example, McDonald’s brought back the McRib for a short time in certain areas during the autumn of 2023, only one year after hosting a “Farewell Tour” for the McRib in late 2022. This was happening at the same time period.
According to Joe Erlinger, President of McDonald’s in the United States, who made a visit on the TODAY program in June 2024, consumers were informed that the well-known sandwich will be making its reappearance “later this year.” On the other hand, the chain did not make the announcement of an official McRib comeback date until this week.
“The McRib is more just a sandwich – it’s a part of civilization, it’s a legend, and it’s an event,” that is what Tariq Hassan, the chief marketing and customer experience officer of McDonald’s, said in a statement. “McRib SZN is a holiday unto itself, so we determined to embrace that spirit and give supporters an even bigger way of celebrating this year with A Whole Lotta McRib Sauce.”
In addition to the McRib, there are a number of other new and interesting items that consumers of McDonald’s should keep an eye out for right now. With a foundation of caramel frappé, a dash of coffee, and a syrup flavored with dulce de leche, the chain introduced a Dulce de Leche Frappé that had never been seen before. The beverage had 630 calories per medium cup and was produced with a base of caramel frappé.
In addition, McDonald’s well-known Holiday Pie (which has 260 calories) and Spicy Chicken McNuggets (which contains 290 calories per six-piece order) have recently made their way back into shops in some regions of the United States.
