From Thanksgiving appetizers to a sophisticated snack for New Year’s Eve, these flaky twists are perfect for any occasion. You will feel more hungry after consuming the hot Cajun flavor, which is perfect for combining with the cold, creamy labneh for dipping and then following up with a refreshing drink of champagne.
Ingredients
- All-purpose flour, for dusting
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed (one 14-oz. package Dufour or half of 17.3-oz. package Pepperidge Farm; difference in yield depends on brand)
- 1/2 c. labneh
- Lime zest, for sprinkling
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 2 1/2 Tbsp. Cajun seasoning
Directions
Step 1
Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Unfold the puff pastry on a surface that has been powdered gently. Cajun spice should be sprinkled on top of the dough after it has been brushed with beaten egg and softly worked to adhere.
Step 2
To prevent the dough from unraveling while it is being baked, cut it crosswise into strips that are three quarters of an inch wide. Twist each strip a few times and then transfer it to sheets that have been prepared, being sure to equally space the strips and pressing the ends of each strip into parchment paper.
Step 3
Bake for 12 to 14 minutes, turning the sheets midway through the baking process, until they are golden brown. Wait for five minutes for the pans to cool, and then move them to a wire rack to finish cooling. Lime zest should be sprinkled on top of labneh before serving.
