There are several aspects of the Costco experience that customers often dislike, despite the fact that there are many things that Costco members like about the warehouse club, such as the free samples, food courts, and low prices on petrol. Dealing with the aggressive salesmen at Costco is, according to consumers, the single most unpleasant aspect of buying at Costco. Recently, customers have begun speaking out against this aspect of the shopping experience.
One of the consumers who frequents Costco turned to Reddit earlier this week to express their dissatisfaction with the salesmen that approach individuals inside the warehouses in order to offer them phones and phone plans. The consumer expressed their dissatisfaction with the employees on the grounds that they have become excessively aggressive and disruptive with their sales pitches, which is negatively impacting the entire shopping experience.
When it comes to the sales staff working at the phone kiosk, I’ve had enough. “It is the single most negative aspect of Costco, and I wish that they would just get rid of all of them,” the customer stated in their letter. “If you go by or even just look in their way, they will just welcome you in an attempt to get you to come over and talk to them. It is nearly usually the case that you will be given the “by the way…” speech if you respond to the welcome at all. It is over! My behavior has changed to the point that I just pass by and completely ignore or refuse to recognize them or their welcome as if they do not exist.
The customer also commented: “They seem to be irritated by this and I can sometimes hear guys comment about it amongst themselves.”
When it comes to the internet scrutiny that Costco’s phone salesmen have been subjected to, this is by no means the first time. Customers have, in the past, spent a significant number of conversations on Reddit to criticizing the merchants, especially those who provide representation for AT&T company. In addition, there are T-Mobile personnel stationed inside of some Costco facilities; however, customers have reported that these individuals are often less pushy when making sales pitches.
The most recent complaint on Reddit, on the other hand, has caused a new surge of anger to be directed on the phone salesmen. More than 900 comments have already been filed in response to the article, the most of which are from customers and other Costco staff who have expressed similar issues.
As someone who has worked at Costco for ten years, I can state with absolute certainty that the mobile phone kiosk is the most frustrating aspect of the membership experience. “Without a doubt,” one of the comments stated.
“I despise all of the salesmen who are heckling. Put an end to your yelling at me. “It does not in any way increase the likelihood that I will proceed with a purchase from you,” commented another consumer.
Several customers have even acknowledged to taking extreme diversions in order to avoid engaging with the salesmen during their shopping experience.
“I literally having no idea what’s even sold in a 20-foot radius of them as I plan my buying route to avoid them,” a Redditor wrote.
However, this does not mean that aggressive salesmen are prevalent at each and every Costco facility. There were several Redditors who mentioned in the comments area that they had never been contacted by the phone kiosk personnel at their local warehouses, or that they had a negative encounter with them. Nevertheless, the sheer number of complaints lodged against the salesmen demonstrates that the problem has grown very widespread despite this fact.
And despite the fact that many individuals pointed out that customers of Costco are allowed to ignore or sidestep pushy salesmen, others said that they would rather be left alone in the first place.
I am aware that it is simple to ignore them or find a way to go past them, but the presence of all the solicitors makes the experience of shopping at Costco much more unpleasant. “It is without a doubt the aspect of the Costco experience that I dislike the most, and it is not even close,” a user on Reddit bemoaned.
