If you are one among the many customers that visit the cherished bakery section of Costco, you should be aware of a new product recall that has been called out. Due to the possibility of a problem with the product’s food safety, the warehouse club has decided to remove one of its most popular pastries off its shelves and provide refunds to consumers.
In a letter that was sent out to members on November 9th, Costco made the announcement that it will be recalling its Kirkland Signature Butter Croissants, which are a year-round bakery item that is quite popular among customers. According to the warning, the salt that was used in the process of making the croissants may include “foreign material,” which would cause them to be contaminated.
Despite the fact that Costco did not disclose the specific identity of the foreign substance that may be concealed inside the pastries, the word may be used to a broad variety of materials that are not allowed to be found in foods sold in grocery stores. In recent years, for instance, Trader Joe’s has gone through the process of recalling a number of food products because they included foreign elements such as pebbles, metal, and insects.
Only twelve-packs of the croissants that have sell-by dates between September 8 and November 10 of this year are affected by the recall that Costco has issued. Any individual who still has the recalled croissants at home is strongly encouraged to avoid from consuming them and to bring them back to their local warehouse in order to get a complete refund.
Following the announcement of the recall, a number of customers who shop at Costco have claimed on Reddit that the croissants had entirely vanished from their respective warehouses.
Yesterday and today, the Costco that I frequent did not have any croissants in stock. According to a post that was made on Reddit earlier this week, “When I asked, I was told that there would be no croissants until further notice.”
Reddit user “Shopped last night, but there were no 12-pack croissants to be found,” expressed their disappointment.
Costco did not immediately reply to our inquiries for more information on the foreign substance that was found in the croissants and when it anticipates that the croissants will return to the warehouses that were affected. The recall notice, on the other hand, directed customers who had any questions or concerns to call Costco at (800) 955-2292 between the hours of 5 a.m. and 8 p.m. Pacific time, Monday through Friday.
When it comes to food recalls at Costco, this is not the only important recall that customers need to be aware of right now. The retail establishment made the announcement earlier this week that it will be recalling almost 80,000 pounds of their Kirkland Signature Sweet Cream Butter, which includes both salted and unsalted varieties. It is possible that the butter does not have a label indicating that it includes milk, which is one of the eight most common allergens found in food. As a result, consumers who are allergic to milk or sensitive to milk may wish to dispose of the butter or return it for a refund.
