In addition to being flavorful and delicious, this main dish is beautifully presented, making it an excellent choice for a formal dinner, a gourmet brunch, or any other special event. In no way will it fail to impress.
Ingredients
- Split into six tablespoons of butter
- One and a half pounds of baby bella mushrooms, often known as crimini mushrooms, sliced
- One-fourth of a cup of chopped sweet onion
- Half a lemon, juiced
- Half a teaspoon of dried thyme
- 5 tablespoons of flour that is all-purpose
- 1 and a half cups of Swanson® Chicken Broth
- Half a cup of Marsala wine
- Half-and-half, two teaspoons’ worth
- Seasoning with salt and pepper to taste
- A single bag of frozen puff pastry, thawed, weighing 17.3 ounces
- One egg, beaten
Directions
Step 1
Put the oven on to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius). Apply non-fat cooking spray to a pie dish that is 9 inches in diameter.
Step 2
Take a big pan and place it over medium heat. Melt three tablespoons of butter. Add the mushrooms and onions, turning them regularly, and continue cooking for around ten minutes, or until the liquid from the mushrooms has reduced. Simmer for two minutes after stirring in the lemon juice and thyme.
Step 3
A second pot should be used to melt three tablespoons of butter. Mix in the flour while stirring continuously for about one minute. The Swanson® Chicken Broth, Marsala, and half-and-half should be added gradually while whisking until the sauce is smooth and has thickened, which should take approximately three minutes. The consistency of the sauce need to be somewhat thick. Add salt and pepper to taste, and season to taste.
Step 4
Stir the mushroom combination well once it has been transferred to the sauce broth and marsala mixture.
Step 5
To fit the pie dish, roll out a single piece of puff pastry to the desired size. Maintain a consistent pressure on the bottom and sides of the pie pan, and then cut away any extra dough. Once the pastry shell is ready, spoon the mushroom filling into it.
Step 6
Once the second layer of puff pastry has been rolled out, it should be placed on top. To seal the edge, trim any extra, and then crimp it. A few openings should be cut into the top so that steam may escape. Apply a thin layer of the beaten egg on the surface of the pie.
Step 7
Bake in an oven that has been prepared until the mushroom mixture is bubbling and golden brown, which should take around forty minutes. Prior to serving, the pie should be allowed to gently cool down.
