Even if you have never worked at McDonald’s, you probably know someone who has experience working there. Despite the fact that you do not know anybody who worked at the fast food restaurant, it is quite likely that you are familiar with a large number of renowned people who worked there.
Peloton instructor Cody Rigsby and Democratic presidential contender and Vice President Kamala Harris, who claims to have worked at the fry station, are just two examples of people whose professional trajectories have been inspired by the Golden Arches.
The fast food behemoth is launching a new effort to show its gratitude to its long-term employees by hosting a series of unique events. The first of these events is a pop-up in Chicago that will include an A-list cast.
It has been reported by the fast food behemoth that one in every eight people in the United States has worked at a McDonald’s restaurant. For the purpose of commemorating this, the “1 in 8” group, which is also referred to as the Crew on occasion, has created its very own website, where members may get to know one other better.
Additionally, the multinational fast food chain is actively looking for methods to help its Crew in addition to promoting a feeling of connection among its huge alumni. In light of the fact that Employees Only was just introduced today, these efforts are being stepped up.
Former McDonald’s employees will be brought together through this initiative, which will provide them with the opportunity to take advantage of networking and mentorship possibilities, as well as hear from notable alumni.
The phrase “Employees Only” is obviously a play on words that refers to the glass doors that separate the eating room from the kitchen and other places where staff are working diligently.
As a result of the fact that the first part of the Employees Only series will take place at a window in Chicago on September 24th, the event will take place in the city that is the hometown of the fast food firm.
Some of the noteworthy “1 in 8ers” (as McDonald’s refers to them) who will be making appearances at the debut of the program include comedian and former cast member of Saturday Night Live Chris Redd, whose stand-up act will concentrate upon his time spent working at McDonald’s. Wine and Food for 2019 The Best New Chef Kwame Onwuachi will deliver a culinary demonstration in which he will “put his signature Afro-Caribbean twist on McDonald’s barbecued and buffalo sauces.”
During his talk, the chef who won the James Beard Award will talk about his rapid climb to prominence and the vital skills he learned while working in the kitchen of McDonald’s.
Onwuachi and Redd will be participating in a panel discussion called “Fryside Chat” alongside Clarissa Molina, who is an actress and a television broadcaster. During the presentation, the three former employees of McDonald’s will talk about their experiences working there, answer questions from the audience, and highlight the significance of being a member of the 1 in 8 club.
During the launch event in Chicago, other members of the Crew will have the opportunity to hear from their renowned colleagues, get their heads photographed by professionals, view an exhibit on the history of uniforms, and acquire some rare goods.
Above all things, McDonald’s hopes that this event, along with the rest of the series that is reserved exclusively for employees, will be able to convey the strong sense of camaraderie that the firm has observed among the Crew.
According to Alma Anguiano, who serves as the United States National Field People Officer for McDonald’s, one in eight employees have disclosed that they have expressed a sense of pride in being a member of this exclusive club and the shared experience that working at McDonald’s provides.
As someone who enjoys McDonald’s french fries and anything that involves interacting with others over a meal, I totally embrace the idea of bringing together people who share a similar history in the fast food industry. Within the next several months, in addition to San Diego and Washington, District of Columbia, more cities around the United States will be included in the continuous implementation of Employees Only.
